⚖️ Grievance redressal mechanisms in local bodies
The main mechanisms for submitting complaints related to local self-government bodies to the appropriate authorities and the priority order in which complaints should be submitted are given below.
⚖️ 1. Local Ombudsman
OMBUDSMAN FOR LSGIs
A higher judicial body for lodging complaints about corruption, irregularities, abuse of power, and dereliction of duty by public representatives or officials. It is headed by a person holding the rank of a High Court judge.
🏛️ 2. Local Tribunal
LSGI TRIBUNAL
Court system for appealing against decisions, orders, denial of licenses, cancellation of building permits, etc. taken by the Panchayat Administrative Committee or Secretary. Headquarters: Thiruvananthapuram.

Delays or other difficulties related to Panchayat services can be brought to the attention of the Chief Minister online.

K-SMART CITIZEN PORTAL
Online single window system of the Local Government Department. You can submit service-related complaints and track their progress (Track Status) without having to go directly to the Panchayat office.
🔍 5. Vigilance Department
VACB
Complaints can be made directly to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on issues such as bribery, gross financial irregularities, and misuse of government funds.
